NCELP alignment with wider policy 


The documents in this collection are useful for teachers, Heads of Departments and Senior Management who wish to see how NCELP Schemes of Work, resources and rationales align with important policy documents and influential thinking on pedagogy. This collection includes how NCELP aligns with the Department for Education Early Career Framework reforms, with the new draft GCSE subject content for French, German and Spanish and with the new Ofsted framework, as well as with the Barack Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction.  Go to collection.

 

MFL GCSE Subject Content - Supporting Resources 

This collection contains resources relating to the new MFL GCSE Subject Content for French, German and Spanish.

 

KS4 new grammar collection


This is a collection of resources for the teaching of grammar features that have not yet been taught in KS3 NCELP resources and are new at KS4. These resources are aligned with the new GCSE subject content.  Go to collection. 

 

Phonics Collection

This collection is useful for any teachers or departments that don’t currently teach phonics, or who want to extend their own resources for so doing. The collection brings together all the resources created so far for the teaching and practising of each SSC (sound-symbol correspondence). For easy reference, there is an excel spreadsheet within the collection, with a list of each of the SSC listed in the draft GCSE grammar appendices, and hyperlinks to each resource.  Go to collection.

 

Exemplar Activities Collection

This collection is useful for any teachers wishing to customise NCELP resources to fit with their own teaching aims and language requirements. A spreadsheet contains sheets with details of all the exemplar activities, categorised by strand: phonics, vocabulary and grammar. There are links to each activity, accompanied by a short description and brief details of the types of exercises involved.  Go to collection. 

 

Production Tasks Collection

This collection contains tasks for production of language, including tasks eliciting a personal response, role-play tasks and interpreting tasks. Go to collection. 

 

Word Patterns Collection
This collection contains word pattern tasks that have been written particularly to support the NCELP SOWs. We have not included every single pattern that exists, just those where there were sufficient, high-frequency words in the top 2000 to suggest that it would be a useful pattern to highlight to students in Y8 and Y9. The Excel document is an inventory of all the patterns and their words that were considered. Go to collection. 

 

Cultural Collection


This collection is useful for teachers wishing to see how and where cultural content is integrated into the NCELP Schemes of Work (SOW) and lesson resources. The slides included are standalone examples and may serve as templates and ideas for teachers looking to use other poems, songs, extracts of stories in their own lessons and SOW, and what activities can be done to exploit such texts.  Go to collection. 

 

Diversity, Inclusion and Representation Collection

 

This collection is useful for teachers wishing to see how and where diversity, inclusion and representation is integrated into the NCELP Schemes of Work (SOW) and lesson resources. By adapting an inclusive approach to education, we teach learners about similarity and difference. In the language-learning context, this can mean breaking cultural barriers by familiarising students with cultural, geographical, political, historical and vocational aspects of areas in which the target language is spoken. NCELP rationales, research and guidance

NCELP's approach to the various aspects of language learning and teaching aims to be evidence-based wherever possible. We also strive to be open about our sources and transparent about our decision-making. This collection brings together documents that lay out the rationale for our approaches to particular topics, such as phonics or vocabulary learning. The documents contain explanations, background information, as well as references to the research that informed our choices. Go to collection.

 

NCELP Continuing Professional Development materials

 

This collection contains resources relating to NCELP Continuing Professional Development, including presentations by the NCELP team, screencasts, and a program of materials provided for hub schools as part of our pilot project (2019 - 2021).

 

NCELP professional development materials (2019 - 2021)


NCELP provided a program of professional development activities to our specialist teachers and the hub schools in our network through residentials and teacher research groups (TRGs). This collection holds all materials from these sessions and includes powerpoint presentations about the theory supporting the pedagogy, as well as sample teaching materials. NCELP is fully resourcing its Scheme of Work (SOW) for each language. The French KS3 SOW and resources are complete. The French KS4 SOW is available to download, and we are currently creating Y10 Term 1 resources. The easiest way to locate resources for a particular year/term is in its SOW collection.
